May is National Foster Care Month
Every child in Oregon deserves a happy and safe life. That includes the 16,000 children who pass through the state’s foster care system every year. These children need our support as their own families go through crisis and are unable to adequately care for them. Foster kids are our kids, and we have a responsibility as a state to ensure a safe and productive future for each one of these children.
This May, help pay tribute to the compassionate and nurturing people who have chosen to make a difference in the life of a foster child by serving as foster parents, relative caregivers, mentors, advocates, social workers, and volunteers. Visit www.fostercaremonth.org to see how you can make a positive difference in the life of a foster child, even if you only have a few minutes. You’ll also find other ways to help if you’re willing to volunteer more of your time, be it hours, weeks, or even years.
Thank you for taking time out of your schedule to help us celebrate National Foster Care month. Sign-up for email updates from Children First for Oregon if you want to be kept up-to-date on what more you can do to help in the future.
