Prioritizing Health Care for Kids in 2009
During the 2007 legislative session, Oregon lawmakers came close to providing health coverage to every child across our state.
Now it’s time to finish the job for our kids.
Governor Kulongoski and the Oregon Health Fund Board will be recommending to the 2009 Legislature that children should have the comprehensive, affordable health care they need to succeed in school and life.

We applaud this recommendation, and encourage Oregon citizens to reach out to their state Representative and Senator and remind them of them importance of covering all kids.
The Oregonian editorial board also strongly recommends prioritizing health care coverage for children during the 2009 session. Read their latest editorial, entitled: “We have cigarettes; they have health care insurance”
A healthy future for Oregon children requires us to ensure their healthy development today – today’s children are tomorrow’s citizens, parents, and community leaders.
Ensuring every child access to high quality, affordable health care will establish a strong foundation for our state, and guarantee a strong future for us all.
