Affordable and Safe Child Care
Affordable, safe child care is crucial to the well-being of children and the economic stability of families. Child care helps children succeed in school and allow parents - who represent a large portion of the workforce - to work. Unfortunately, too many Oregon families struggle to afford child care, forcing them to quit work or leave children home alone.
2009 Legislative Achievements
- Maintained Employment Related Day Care for former TANF families and low-income parents struggling to remain in the workforce. Protected provider reimbursements and limited co-pay increases for parents.
2007 Legislative Achievements
- Helped make child care more affordable for low-income families by investing $39.9 million in the Employment Related Day Care program with provides child care subsidies for very low-income working families.
